Shalom
For 12 years, the dream of this festival has been to share with our neighbors a broad spectrum of movies that celebrate the diversity of the Jewish experience. Short films, dramas, comedies and documentaries from all over the world bring us stories that remind us of our shared humanity. More than great films, our festival celebrates the remarkable filmmakers who create the films. Meet them during the filmmaker conversations following each movie.
FROM THE CO-DIRECTORS OF THE FESTIVAL
Hello Film Lovers of San Luis Obispo and the World,
Our Global Mishpacha celebrates family and friends around the world who understand what it means to be Jewish in whatever environment, era, or circumstance they live. Our festival has always showcased cultural diversity, and this year, in a world fractured by politics, race and religion, we wanted to remind ourselves that we are indeed one united global family. This year's larger selection of films has been curated from more countries than ever, and many reveal unique, unknown stories that are certain to surprise and delight you.
We hope you will share the festival with your friends and family around the country. For several weeks in January, they, too, can be a part of our San Luis Obispo Jewish community by enjoying our film festival.
We want to thank our sponsors who make this festival possible. Your generosity and commitment are inspiring. We thank the filmmakers who have dared to make such remarkable films. We know how challenging it is to make a movie, and we hear your independent voices. Finally, we thank the volunteers who have shared their time and talent to make this festival happen.
Our virtual platform has enabled us to expand the festival to meet more filmmakers and share this gem from the JCC-Federation of San Luis Obispo with more people in more places. That's a great thing! So pop a bowl of popcorn, settle into your favorite spot, and join in the festival spirit that connects us, even virtually.
